About This MicroSim
Test your ability to identify the correct software architecture pattern from real-world product scenarios. Each question presents a situation and asks you to classify it as Monolithic, Microservices, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), or a Distributed System.
Features
- Scenario-based questions: Each question presents a realistic product scenario to classify
- Multiple choice format: Select from 4 architecture patterns per question
- Hint system: Get a hint if you're stuck (reduces points earned)
- Detailed explanations: Learn why each answer is correct after responding
- Score tracking: Earn 10 points for correct answers (5 with hint)
- Encouraging feedback: Supportive messages whether right or wrong
- Randomized order: 10 questions selected randomly from a pool of 20 each time
Architecture Patterns Covered
| Pattern | Description |
|---|---|
| Monolithic | A single, unified application deployed as one unit. Best for small teams, early-stage products, and simple deployments. |
| Microservices | Small, independently deployable services each handling a specific business capability. Best for large teams needing independent deployment and scaling. |
| Service-Oriented (SOA) | Loosely coupled services communicating through a central enterprise service bus. Common in large enterprises connecting existing systems. |
| Distributed System | Independent computers working together across multiple locations, appearing as one system. Deals with geographic distribution, replication, and partial failures. |
